Time for a challenge...

Happy Monday!

This weekend is a long weekend for me, and it's glorious. Sorry for all of you people stuck at work today, I'm probably still curled up in bed #sorrynotsorry.

I'm having a mini-staycation this weekend, and it's very much necessary/needed and long overdue. I debated doing a weekend shenanigans post today but I'm basically just too tired, so I'm just going to share something else with y'all instead.

The other day I came up with an idea to blog every day in July. I hate that I was really 'on the ball' last year with blogging 4-5x a week and this year I am lucky if I blog once a week... I miss it. So I told two of my best friends about it and I might have maybe sorta kinda forced asked them nicely to join me. They agreed, duh. So for the entire month of July, Allie, Juliette, and I will blog EVERY day... including weekends. Anyway, the more that we talked about it, the more we decided it might be a cool idea to have other people join us and we decided to make this open to everyone. Allie even made a cool looking button if you decide to join us.

the happiest of hours

This is probably going to be shocking to most people, but until last week, Happy Hour was not a thing in Vancouver. Due to the strict liquor laws - bars and restaurants weren't allowed to sell spirits and beer for cheap prices to 'entice' people to drink so there were no happy hours in existence... it was sad. But... BUT BUT BUT (I like big butts and I cannot lie), that law changed this past week, and now we can have Happy Hour.

During my little stroll at lunch yesterday, I discovered that the bar next to my work had officially started their happy hour promotions...

I texted Amanda and told her how cheap the liquor was, and we then proceeded to cancel our meetings that we had scheduled for after work (because we're such adults) and hit the bar to have many a few drinks. I'm not going to sit here and share inappropriate drinking stories since my family reads my blog from time to time (Hi Peter DAD), but just know that it was basically the happiest of all the hours. Also, vodka for $3 will win my heart over every time.

It's Friday, and I'm off early today with a long weekend in my immediate future and I cannot wait to have a few relaxing days with Justin to have a mini 'staycation'. I legitimately plan on staying in my house all day Sunday and not leaving... Because sleep, and Sons of Anarchy are calling my name. Also, I just really really really want to be lazy for once.

Have a joyous weekend everyone, and if you're Canadian... Happy Canada Day on Tuesday!

Linking up with this little pretty since I'm actually blogging on a Friday, for once.

The Wiz

For the past two weeks I've been having a bit of a meltdown of sorts regarding a dress. A meltdown over a dress, you ask? Well.. it's not just any dress, it's a freakin' bridesmaid dress that I have to wear in my best friends wedding in August.
For the record, she has no idea about ANY of this... so Nikki, if you're reading... don't panic.

Anyway, back to the story.. I had to order the dress back in January. As some of you may or may not know, I dropped about 6/7 dress sizes last year. When ordering the dress, I was told that they can only alter the dress as much as 2 sizes (to take it in). I talked with the bride, my roommate, and the woman at David's Bridal and everyone thought I should get the dress ONE size too small, that way I had the wiggle room to lose up to 3 sizes. Since I lost so much weight LAST year and I was on point with working out 5-6x a week, I'd definitely lose at least 1 or 2 sizes. I was wrong.

In February I got sick and basically had the entire month with basically no working out. in March I got injured and COULDN'T workout, and that trend basically stayed on point up until June. I got the dress, tried it on, and it was a size too small. I haven't lose any weight since January. Crap. So I started to panic and basically cried (minus the tears) to Juliette and Lindsay about what to do. It's too late to order a new dress, I can't have it "let out" an entire size... clearly I need to crash diet. This resulted in the opposite, and I'd just binge eat because I was starving and I'm pretty sure I've actually GAINED 2lbs since I got the dress instead of losing any weight.

we're off to see the wizard...

But now, NOW, we are okay... you see, I took a little trip to see The Wiz. In case you're confused, I went to see 'The Wizard' last week and she basically saved my life kept me from having a nervous break-down (because hey, I'm clearly dramatic here), and examined my dress. To back track, I started calling her The Wizard before I went to see her because I told Juliette that she'd need to have so many tricks up her sleeves in order for me to ever fit into the dress and that basically she needed to work some kind of magic.

Anyway, I tried the dress on for The Wiz and she was very optimistic. She said it's only 3 inches too small, and what would you know - SHE FOUND 3 INCHES IN THE SEAMS OF THE DRESS. So if I absolutely don't lose any weight, she can 'let the dress out' and I will fit into the dress no problem. If I lose weight, she may not need to alter it at all. HALLELUJAH. I've never been so happy to get news about a dress in my entire life.

Now I just need to stay on point - try and drop some weight in the next month... or at least not gain anymore weight and I'll totally be golden. Everyone just keep pizza, ice cream, vodka, and tacos out of my line of sight - okay?

That's What My Girl Beyonce Says...

I feel like blogging, because it's been a while, and why the heck not?

First things first, today is my favorite Californian's birthday! Happy birthday, J! I hope today is filled with unicorns, rainbows, glitter burritos, ninja mimosas, and that Ralph stays home. Happy to have you in my life and have you as a best friend and diary - ha. Love you long time.

Anyway, let's get on with this post...

Sunday was Father's Day, as you all know, and since I'm on the opposite side of the country to where my family lives, my Father's Day and Mother's Day 'hangouts' consist of me calling home and chatting with my parents for a little while. This past Sunday was no different. I called home and talked to mom like normal, then I had her pass the phone to dad so we could catch up... I'm going to give you a little play by play of how this conversation went.

This is dad, when I took him on a surprise helicopter ride for the first time in his life.

(Side note: for those of you who haven't read anything about my dad - he guest blogged for me a few times last year, and he has QUITE the personality)

Dad: Are you watching golf in my honor today?
Me: No, absolutely not. You think I sit around watching golf when I don't have to?
Dad: Well, no. But it's Father's Day.. today is different. You should be watching it today.
Me: Sorry dad, but no. You gave us the choice between golf and 'Star Trek' growing up... and Christian and I BOTH chose to watch Star Trek every single time. Don't you think that was for a reason?
Dad: Yeah, but I gave you choices between watching something awesome and watching something awesome. I'm a great dad.
My dad is so humble.
Me: Yeah dad, it was more like 'good' and 'awful'.
Next conversation -

*Discussing how expensive this city is to live in*

Me: That's part of the reason I can't wait to move in with Justin.
Dad: *pause* *crickets* you and Justin are moving in together?
Me: Calm down dad, not until next year...
Dad: Oh I'm calm. I've never been more calm. *dramatic pause* Well, when you move in together, he better put a ring on it.
Me: *laughs a lot* Umm what?
Dad: Well that's what my girl Beyoncé says...

annnnd then my mom joined in the conversation, in the background, at this point.. but I won't share those details because I don't need to freak Justin out anymore than he probably already is - haaa.

That's all I've got for today. I'll try and make this posting thing a regular thing in my life again, but y'all know how much I struggle.

Friday Confessions

It's Friday (Can I get an AMEN?!) and I feel like confessing a bunch of things, so here we go...

It's Friday and this is the first time I'm blogging this week. Oops. I've tried to blog every day this week and something has happened the night before and kept me busy (I usually write at nighttime), or there's not enough time in the morning. Massive fail, I know.

I totally thought 'Bae' meant 'Babe' until Pinterest informed me that I'm just dumb.

I knew I desperately needed to workout when I got home from work yesterday, but I was so exhausted that I just went straight to my bed and laid there for an hour before I finally got my butt up and moving. It was a weak workout, but I did it.. that still counts for something, right?

I jumped on Pinterest to look for a ton of new recipes since I need to get back to eating extremely clean - no cheating, no alcohol, and working out 5-6x a week, and I spent the majority of the time looking at funny things instead:

I've thought about eating pizza every single day this week. I wish I was kidding, but I'm not. I mean, I haven't actually eaten it every day, so that counts for something - but I've definitely wanted it in my mouth hole non stop (that's what she said).

This shirt couldn't be more accurate

Now I want pizza. Crap.

Justin hates it when I listen to a song more than once, and I'm guilty of being a song repeatist. Can't stop, won't stop. Since he's not here, I've been listening to this song on repeat for the past half hour and I don't even care...

Oh, and obviously I'm linking up with Whitney today to #backthatazzup into the weekend.
