Farewell 2014

I cannot believe that today is December 31st. It honestly feels a little surreal to me.
At the risk of saying something so cliche... where has the past year gone?

I feel like it was just yesterday that I was writing this post recapping 2013! I also feel like it was just yesterday that Amanda and I came up with the plan to Get Uncomfortable in 2014. Speaking of getting uncomfortable... lets do a quick recap on some of the things I did in 2014 to really step out of my comfort zone.

  • Went dancing with friends --
    - I know this sounds crazy, but I absolutely do not dance in public. I finally stepped out of my comfort zone and allowed it to happen and it wasn't absolutely terribly.
  • Burning 1,000 calories a day for more than a week in January --
    - This was a ridiculous challenge I gave myself. Unfortunately it was the beginning of me getting injured/sick/injured/sick/injured, etc. all. year. long. But oh well - I did it.
  • Asked out my Starbucks barista --
    - True story. I thought he was cute/nice/whatever, and BAM, for the first time in my life I asked out a complete stranger. The outcome wasn't the greatest - at that moment.. but it lead me to Justin, and I'll forever be grateful for that!
  • Went Bungee Jumping --
    - In April, along with three of my best friends, I went bungee jumping. It was surreal, amazing, and everything that you could possibly imagine and I CANNOT wait to do it again someday. 2015 maybe?
  • Ran Vancouver Sun Run 10k --
    - In 2013 I focused on getting healthy. During that process I found a love of running, but I was terrified of running in public. For the first 3-6 months that I went 'running', I would only run through the alley-ways of our neighbourhood. It wasn't until the Fall of 2013 that I actually started running on the street. In April 2014 I finally tackled my ultimate fear of running in front of people and ran a public 10k with about 10,000 other people.
  • Grouse Grind --
    - It's a mountain in Vancouver that I have refused to hike for the past three years and finally took a chance and did it in May with one of my friends. It was long and tiring and exhausting, but I'm glad that I did it.
  • I fell in love --
    - I starting talking to Justin on February 11th and we met for our first date on February 21st, and the rest - as they say - is history. I don't know if I believe in love at first sight, but that first date sure made me swoon and I knew by the end of it that he was something special.
Those are some of the 'uncomfortable' things that stick out to me. But this year was full of truly amazing things: my best friends wedding, introducing Justin to my parents/family, Justin moving in with me, watching my friends and family grow - mentally, physically, emotionally, and spitirually, moving into this amazing apartment with Amanda in March, and so many other things.

Here are a few collages to show some of my favourite moments of 2014:

Happy New Year ... and Stuff

Mic test 1, 2, 3.. is this thing on?

Holy crap, it's the middle of January.
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

I haven't blogged in a few weeks, and my dad has been kindly reminding me every day that  I need to get my butt in gear... so here I am. Kind of.

I've been drafting my 214 recap post for oh, about THREE WEEKS, but life has been so hectic and I just haven't finished it. Le sigh. The post is completely written up and I have about 7 or 8 collages made, but because I haven't finished getting ALL of the pictures done, I haven't posted it. And now, here I am, blogging about NOTHING because I feel the need to fill this blank void in my little corner of the interwebs. I'm probably just going to ramble now.

Life has been a massive blur since December 1st. From Christmas parties to random gatherings with friends, from shopping to wrapping to shopping and wrapping some more, from writing Christmas cards to taking advent calendar pictures, from Justin going into the hospital for the night to me throwing out my back, from Christmas Eve shenanigans to Christmas Day festivities, from New Year's Eve drinking to New Year's Day eating all the carbs... life has been a whirlwind. That was the longest sentence I've ever written in my entire life, phew.

December was nuts, not just for me - but I'm sure it was for you too. I won't recap it, because I'm already failing as a lifestyle blogger right now so lets just leave it at that. Onward and upward I say!

There's lots of stuff in the works for 2015, and I'm pretty freakin' excited about it. Justin and I have a trip planned to Halifax for Christmas - only 11.5 months until I get to see my family!! We're planning a little somethin' somethin' for our anniversary. We have some friends possibly getting married this year - which will involve a flight or a loooong drive (I LOVE ROAD TRIPS). We have goals for our health, our finances, our relationship, and professional lives. I GET TO MEET JULIETTE IN MARCH (possibly the best part of my year).

There are so many new and exciting things that 2015 has in store for me, my friends, my family, and my Justin. I swear that I'll start to post again soon. Maybe if you're all lucky enough, I'll do my recap post tomorrow.

p.s. Since I never shared my Christmas card picture, this is what Justin and I sent out to our friends:
