Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful..

Happy Tuesday, dear blog world.

As most if you know by now, from reading his guest blog posts, that my dad was a meteorologist for 30+ years. I say was, because he recently retired... that lucky duck.

Growing up in a household with a meteorologist I was brain washed told that any forecast that didn't come from Environment Canada was wrong. To me, 'The Weather Network' sucks - but I suppose I have my opinion is bias.

Because I'm such a weirdo, I will often compare various forecasts to Environment Canada's forecast just to see f they were 'close' or see if I can trust what their forecast says. They're usually 'pretty' close but just for piece of mind (and so that I'm not disowned by my dad) I will always reference EC's website.

At work we have this webpage that basically works like 'intranet' meaning its only for internal use in the company. It's called the Portal and it's where all of our documents/files are kept. On the Portal's homepage they have the top new articles, stock info, and (as I'm sure you've guessed) the weather...

This lovely little weather widget is run by a company called 'Accu-Weather'. Oh my goodness. Their forecasts, oh, their forecasts. They are horrible. But horribly funny - so it's fine.

Over the past couple of months, I've taken screen caps of a few forecasts that I've found slightly amusing. Oh, in case you're wondering, I'm not the only one at work who has noticed how outrageous these forecasts are.

'Breezy with rain' - so helpful.
'Cloudy with a little rain' - so should I just bring a little umbrella?
'Mostly cloudy, rain ending' - when is the rain ending? Will I need my umbrella at 4:00pm when I'm off work?
Yep, these are legit forecasts. Not so bad, but okay... we'll look at some more.

'Mostly cloudy, showers around' - What does this even mean?!
Also, note that they use the same icon for 'Clear and Chilly', 'Partly Cloudy', and 'Mainly Clear'.

'A Passing Shower or Two' - what does that even mean? How long does one shower last? Can I really expect there to be "two" showers?
'Most cloudy, showers around' - we've already covered how I felt about this one.
'Clouds breaking' - looks like it's still raining to me...

'Partly Cloudy with a Shower' - okay, just one shower? Umbrella? or just a jacket with a hood?
'Partly Cloudy' - Looks partly sunny to me.

'Partly Cloudy' - Uh, if it's just cloudy, why is it raining in the picture?
'A Stray Evening Shower' - Okay, so it's a "stray" shower? Does that mean it doesn't have a home?
'Cloudy With Rain Tapering Off' - Tapering off? Okay..

'Occasional rain and drizzle' - Okay, so this must call for an 'occasional' umbrella - right?

'A Shower Early; Partly Cloudy' - A shower early? Early in the morning? Early afternoon? Early evening?
'Becoming Cloudy' - Uh, okay... when? When is it Becoming Cloudy.
'Cloudy with a Little Rain' - How much is a little rain? How much cloud do I have before the rain starts?

Okay, so maybe I'm a little crazy for posting so many screenshots - but this is what I read at work every day, it makes me laugh. When I first showed these pictures to my roommate, she suggested that the forecast was being done by a 70-year old man sitting on his front porch, looking at the sky. Yep, Amanda, that sounds about right to me. Haha.

Also, in other news. For the month of May, I've decided to join this team in losing weight:

Short and Sweet

Hey Blog land, I'm back!
Unfortunately, I had the pleasure of catching a nasty cold last Tuesday - making me out of commission since Wednesday. Fun, I know. I've been referring to this cold as 'The Plague', because it basically came out of nowhere and knocked me on my ass butt for days. Even as I write this, I'm still not feeling 100% - so this will be short.

This is an accurate depiction of me.

But today I'm not here to just moan and complain (and tomorrow we'll be back to our regularly scheduled program). Today I bring you a lovely GIVEAWAY that I'm participating in, thanks to the fabulous Rachel.

Birthday Birthday Birthday

Happy Tuesday, friends.
But more importantly:
Happy Birthday to TWO of my best friends

Ashley || Amanda
Ashley || Amanda

I'm starting this blog post by showing you just how beautiful my best friends are. In my eyes, they look like models - which is why they are always in front of my camera lens : )
And now, I'm going to show a couple dozen pictures to reminisce about my friendship with each of these lovely ladies.
Honestly, I showed those pretty pictures because things are about to get ugly interesting, and they might kill me. Oops! Love you both!

Warning - This post is FULL of pictures.
Photos may contain: Duck faces, alcohol, inappropriate poses, lots of laughs, terrible sun burns, silly faces, awful make-up jobs, bad hair, and lots of love.

She is the peanut butter to my jelly, the Bert to my Ernie, the room to my mate, the 'Son' to my 'Real', and the Quake to my Kayo (haha Amanda, I had to).
Seriously though, Amanda is one of my best friends. We've known each other since the 2nd Grade, and we've been best friends since 7th Grade. We've traveled to Europe together, and we've moved to St. John's, NL and Vancouver, BC together. We are so alike and so different at the same time. We get along better than most people, and I'm lucky to have her in my life.

Amanda loves Marilyn Monroe, so I thought this was fitting.

She is the red to my solo cup, the duck to my dynasty, the wolf to my pack, and (with Christian) we truly are the three best friends that anyone could have.
Ashley is the sister I never had. I grew up with one older brother, Christian. He was okay. One day he met and fell in love with Ashley, and we have since become best friends. I can't imagine my life without her, and I feel like I'm a better person for having her in my life. Even though I'm 6,000km away from her, I know when I go home it's like nothing has changed. She's a true friend.

Ashley, Uncle Si is singing and dancing 'My Humps' just for you... we'll just pretend he's singing Happy Birthday, okay?

One. Ashley and Amanda graciously helping me paint my bedroom on a whim one day.
Two. Attending an amazing outdoor concert on a hot summer day, we stood for 10 hours.
Three. Random shenanigans.
Four. The two birthday girls together.

Happy Birthday Amanda & Ashley.

I love you both dearly and I'm so thankful to have each of you in my life. I'm a better person because of each of you. You have both played such a huge part in my life and you're part of the reason that I am who I am, today.
I love you both more than I can put into words here, and I want to thank you for being a part of my life.
p.s. I'm glad that you are both 25 before me. Phew.

A Couple Weekend Shenanigans...

Happy Monday, friends.
I had a fabulous weekend, and I hope that you all enjoyed your weekends too. Linking up with Ms. Shenanigans, for some Weekend Shenanigans:

One. I chopped off 3 inches of hair.
Two. Friday Shenanigans w/ co-workers.
Three. Jennie & I aren't good at doing Taxi Chits while drunk in the back of a car.
Four. The most outrageous (but hilarious) ad that I've ever seen: A clean beaver always finds more wood.
Five. The weather was bi-polar this weekend, but I did my best to enjoy the sunny periods.
Six. Saturday night I grabbed dinner and drinks with some friends for Amanda's birthday. I love beer flights.
Seven. Sunday brunch next to this cute fire place.
Eight. Delicious, delicious brunch.
Nine. Me during a Sunday walk - soaking up some vitamin D.

Annnnd that about sums up my weekend.
I hope you all have a great start to your week.

Pit & Peak

Hallelujah, it's Friday!
Can I get an Amen?

Today I'm linking up for 'Pit & Peak'

I know it says vlog edition, and I'm not vlogging this week - oops.

It's pretty simple - the Peak & Peak of the week are the highest and lowest parts of the week. This week I'm just going to do ONE Pit and ONE Peak.

I basically couldn't move on Thursday.
(But it's not too much of a Pit because I was sore from a good work out the day before. No Pain - No Gain, right?)

Getting my hair and eyebrows done at the Salon & Spa yesterday... Followed by shopping for new clothes.
(Sometimes it's fun to be a girl)

Also, it's Friday - so that means I have to link-up with my homegirl, Whitney for #backthatazzup !

I've had 'Get Low' stuck in my head for days, so this is happening right now.
From the window, to the wall..

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. See you Monday!

More Energy Than 10 Energizer Bunnies

Happy Hump Day, my lovelies!

Wednesday is the day to get all humpty-dumpty. If you speak French, today is also known as: la jour du humpage.
I totally just impressed you with my bilingual skills, I know.

Yesterday I had a giggle fit at work. Honestly, this is totally common for me to find something funny, and then just giggle for an inappropriate amount of time. It happens; I'm just used to it, and I'm pretty sure my co-workers are used to it.

Without fail, I will start any giggle fit like this. It seems innocent, but this is when I know that my mood is instantly going to switch to OMGZ! - BOUNCING OFF THE WALLZ RITE NOW!!

This state of hyperness doesn't always come immediately, luckily for my co-workers. However, I know darn well that it's going to hit at some point, unluckily for my roommate - Amanda. Most of the time (at least 75% of the time), I have more energy than 10 Energizer Bunnies. Don't believe me? Ask anyone who has ever lived with me.

I have moments where I will make myself look bored:

But on the inside, the only thing I can think of doing is this:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

When I get home, I try to work off as much energy as I can... by having crazy dance parties (sometimes with Roscoe, our dog), running around the living room - waving my hands in the air, or as I recently started doing - going running.

If I don't have a way to use up my energy, this is the look I get from Amanda when she comes home from work to see me mid-dance party/ running around the living room. She calls me 'special' more often than I'd like to admit:

The most annoying thing is that this 'hyperness' usually hits about 5 minutes before bed time. Yesterday, was one of these days - which is why I'm bringing it up today. I need to get my butt healthy and fit in order to be able work-out longer and harder to try and get rid of more energy.
(So this is basically a reminder to myself to keep motivated and keep trying.)

Annnnnnnd since it's hump day, and I'm already hyper - let's get this dance party started.

Also, if you haven't entered this giveaway for a KitchenAid Mixer, what are you waiting for?

Praying for Boston

My heart breaks for everyone who was affected by today's tragedies. Praying and thinking of everyone who was at the finish line of the marathon today.
Thinking of you all.

Classified Shenanigans

Happy Monday, friends!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I had a great weekend full of fun Shenanigans.

Overview of the weekend: Classified concert, drinking with Amanda, brunch, road trip through the mountains, photo-shoot with a friend, and prepping/cooking meals for the week.

I went to an amazing concert on Friday night: Classified, Quake, Kayo and SonReal performed as well. After the concert, Amanda and I headed over to Ceili's to keep the party going. Many shenanigans were had, and it was the best kind of night. I'm going to let the pictures do the talking.

Last night's sunset was amazing. I grabbed a few quick pictures with my iPhone.

On Sunday I photographed my friend, Kate-Lynn, and her boyfriend Matt.
They're such a beautiful couple. Here are a few shots from my session with them:

This is one of my favorite 'outtakes'. It shows their fun side.

That's it for my weekend shenanigans! I hope you all have a fabulous day.

Other exciting news: I'm participating in a fantastic GIVEAWAY!

A KitchenAid Mixer

I seriously wish that I could enter this giveaway, I really want a KitchenAid! Good luck everyone :)
